Beggar's Night (and the rest of the day)

So Shannon and I cleaned up after she had finished excersizing. It actually went pretty quick. Not to many spills (except for in the kitchen) and the Dining room had been kinda halfway swept up during the night, since Will had spilled some chex mix and then cleaned up after himself. It actually went pretty quick. We decided after we were all cleaned up, that we'd go to La Mie for brunch. While Shannon was cleaning herself up, I finished off the last Pumpkin Spice muffin I made (which went over well at my work, Shannon's work, and the party).

So we went and we waited for a table...eventually we sat down.

I had orange juice and Quiche Lorraine with what was like a potato pancake, except more dense. I don't think the waitress told us what it was. Shannon had the French toast with the potato dish as a side.

I was impressed, with this new taste experience. I had never really had Quiche before...I have had little Quiches I suppose like mini ones, but certainly never a full size one. It was good, as I expected. The dense potato thing was really quite nice and was dense and mixed with sour cream and some spices and had a little sour cream drizzled over the top of it. I just don't really know what to compare it to though, since I didn't really have something else in mind. It was yummy though. The crust was dense but still very flaky, and the rest of it was very light and fluffy. Certainly a lot lighter then scrambled eggs (even when you mix 'em with more milk then you should). Deffinately makes me want to learn how to, or at least make attmepts at making a Quiche. And one thing I like about La Mie, that other places sometimes fail at, is that I have no desire to add spices to what I eat there. Not even salt and pepper. Which is kind of a pet peeve of mine. A lot of people will add salt and/or pepper to a meal without even tasting it. How do you know if it needs it, if you haven't tasted it yet? Taste it, then add spices as you see fit. I also had a cranberry-walnut salad that was quite good. Very fresh mix of greens. As always, the presentation is always great.

I tried the fruit that was decorating Shannon's French toast and it was very good. Cooked and all that. Apples (mmm...) and Rasberrys (mmmm....even though I did get a seed stuck between my teeth). I always don't like leaving that place :-(

We paid are bill (which was quite reasonable) and headed to Target. I needed to buy some electric razor cleaning fluid (since my "change me" light has been blinking for a couple of weeks now) and Shannon wanted to look at some new comforters, since the one I have, is...well...its just too warm for Fall/Spring. It's more of a dead of winter thing. So we looked and didn't really find anything. We looked at toys and some Christmas stuff (yes I know this is surprising considering my rule that NOTHING christmas related can happen before Thanksgiving). And talked about our Christmas lists...at least our theorhetical lists. We talked about going to Bed Bath and Beyond, for a better comforter selection, but by the time we checked out, we didn't have enough time.

We headed home and stopped there for about 20 minutes and then headed to the Drake campus to go to the Fall Concert for the Des Moines Community Orchestra to see Holly play. It was a good experience, and probably the best that I've seen them play as a whole. I really liked The Merry Wives of Windsor Overture by Otto Nicolai and selections from the rest of the program. It was a nice time.

Afterwards, we headed home, with a little time to spare before Beggar's Night.

We had boatloads of candy (we had it for the party too) and I would rather have too much candy then not enough. But apprently it didn't much matter, and we had about the same amount of kids that I saw last year (20 or so). What I found funny was that even though I told the kids to take as much as they wanted, only 2 or 3 actually took handfulls, most just took one to three pieces. It's kinda sad. And we had lots of candy left.

It still is silly. Yes parents should walk with thier kids, but there's gotta be a little more trust here. I still long for the days where there's just tons of people out there...Oh well...

We Started watching Ghostbusters during the alloted time for Beggar's Night. and shortly after it started I started passing between awake and napping.

Eventually we headed upstairs to go to bed and my I talked to my parents for a while and then we hit the sack.

So We'll be heading to Cedar Rapids on Sunday to see my youngest sister (and her kid), since she'll be in town and I've not seen my new niece yet, I don't think...

Today...as to the candy we had left, I loaded it up in a big plastic shopping bag (it was about 2/3rds of all the candy and about 2/3rd full). I checked the break room at around 2:PM (I dropped it off at around 9:AM) and it was almost all gone. And I mean like maybe 15 pieces of candy left. It was quite amazing.
