Mediacom and Fox
So Mediacom Cable and Sinclair's Fox here in Des Moines have been in a dispute and Fox is no longer carried by our Mediacom Cable.
Initially it really miffed me that I wasn't able to get a better signal...rabbit ears sucks...I haven't used that since...oh...I think high school...and that wasn't rabbit ears, my parents had it from a TV on the roof. But in all honesty I don't watch Fox THAT much. Sunday and Wednesday is pretty much all I would watch, and Wednesday I can miss...Sunday kinda sucks...and it means you kinda have to BE at home instead of having the DVR record it...but...ugh...
Anyways what really has pissed me off is internet connectivity.
On Monday morning I tried to update my iPod, no internet connectivity, called, scheduled a dude to come out and look (since they really don't do any sort of troubleshooting over the phone anymore) and when were they gonna come out? The following Monday. This past week I've been on call and it makes it a bit tough to respond to problems that may come up if I can't get to the internet.
While we were at work, it came back up, so I called in a canceled the appointment. No biggie.
So then Last night no connectivity again and I call again and it's a outage for my entire area (whee). Supposedly to be resolved by 11:PM but no such luck for me. Checked again this morning, out again...call in, schedule an appointment for Tuesday. Even though the time frame is shorter...I mean come on...
Yes I can live without the internet, but I don't want to...and not for a week either.
I've run the numbers and between mediacom, and qwest + direct TV and it's kind of a wash...kinda kept me from switching, but I remember my update I had with my Qwest DSL up in Ames (basically two times in 4 years and only one of those was more then an hour).
I'm really thinking of switching, especially now that I don't really know anyone that works for Mediacom anymore.
