dinner and a movie...

Well we decided to go out, again, on Saturday and much to our dismay, really couldn't find anyone to go out with. Brandon and Val were off at the ISU game (ISU won! Yay!), Jen was probably heading up to Ames, Chris and Holly had a wedding (I had forgotten and called anyways), Josh and Lindsay called back, but Lindsay was napping. Dave was off doing something...

Oh well.. We went to eat at Chef's Kithchen. We wanted to try the de Burgo. It turned out to be a good thing. It was bathed in a garlic and red wine (I think) sauce and was very tender and good. Although most of the Steak de Burgo recipes include mushrooms, these didn't have much. Shannon had the chicken de burgo, which I think was a garlic and white wine sauce. That was good as well. It seems good to me to try these things when that is probably what is going to be on their catering menu.

We both left satisfied, and it's good that we left when we did, cause we ended up changing the original movie that we were going to go to and went to Corpse Bride. We met Josh and Lindsay and a bit later in the theater Dave and ...uh...dave's friend came in and sat behind us.

The movie was ok. Not as good as The Nightmare Before Christmas, but still made me laugh in several parts and I didn't fell robbed of my money (espically since we went to a cheaper theater ($6 dollars a ticket).

Afterwards, Dave and...uh...whatshername, kinda left in a hurry, and Josh, Lindsay, Shannon and I headed over to Granite City (I was supposed to call Jen, now that I remember, but it's a little late now). Well Josh said they'd be about 35 minutes (had to stop at Lindsay's), so Shannon and I stopped at the Super Target to look at christmas trees and some other christmas stuff. A lot of the trees that actually looked nice, were also packaged with lights that sucked (how nice). I did see these cool blue LED lights however, that I'd like to get I suppose. Normally by the time Christmas gets around I turn into a grinch, cause my level of Christmas stuff gets breached sometime after Thanksgiving but before Christmas, espically since the Christmas season starts near (sometimes before) Halloween (how stupid is that?). Anyways, sticking to the 35 minute goal, we left super target and drove the rest of the way to Granite City.

So an hour later or so (total time since leaving the movie theater), Lindsay and Josh show up. I had been sipping on a Stout (their attempt at a Guiness), and Shannon on her water. We order, Shannon and I had the Carmel Apple Crisp (it was ok), Lindsay had a bowl of soup and josh had their Nachos (which are really potatoes covered in nacho stuff). We chatted and eventually we headed of to home.

Shannon and I headed to bed.

It had been a good day (Shannon had gone shopping, I had done some lawn/leaf mowing), and it had a nice end.

I guess if we want to do group things, we should maybe plan a little more then an hour or two in advance....
