Since I, for the most part, don’t generally post to that one picture site anymore, I’ve turned that page off.

Iðunn makes progress, Amazon Associates boots me
I took Iðunn to the Vet on Friday. I forgot a few things while heading there. I was on a conference call, so I forgot:
Previous medical paperwork from the ARL
Fecal sample
My mask
Part of this was the distraction of being on the call, the other part was it was very hard to get her into the carrier to take her to the vet. She knew something was up, and being as skittish as she is, it was challenging to get her. I did get her in the carrier and headed to the vet, and as I got there to wait, I realized what I was missing. I asked if I had time to run back home to get it, and I did not. Shannon reminded me that I had scanned Iðunn’s medical records (as I do, I get to hoard paperwork, but they’re tiny digital files), So I emailed the vet the two items (medical record, rabies shot certificate). And got a collection take home sample (rubber gloves for kitchen use for the win). Iðunn as frightened and hid under the towel in the carrier.
After the clean bill of health (a minor note about tooth 104, growing oddly). I returned her to her room and she now trusts me a whole lot less. That night we opened the room door, and let her free to roam the house.
She made it into our room that night, and perhaps explored a bit more, but we didn’t much notice. Last night, however, she made it all the way to the basement (2 floors away), to join us while we watch TV. She started playing with the toys down there, and Loki and Máni to some extent.
After Shannon went to bed, play continued, and I got a couple of videos.
On the other side, after almost no activity for years, Amazon Associates justifiably booted me off their platform. It’s fair. I think over the course of this website I may have earned 75$? Anyways, I cleaned up links on the Books page and I may go back through and clean up links on other pages. I got rid of google ads a bit ago, when I realize this is something I do for me. I really should scrape the website and clean up some old links. Anyhoo, it happened.
Trying to change a pattern
As I struggle with my brain, I want to take a chance to publicly thank my partner in life, Shannon, as she keeps up the behaviors and requirements that make us successful participants in society. Even though I've not been not very helpful, she keeps on and I really do appreciate it.
I have started to enact a plan, where I will use my phone or laptop to take notes throughout the week to make writing the notes on cooking more accurate and recently thought about and also take notes about what to cook for the next week. This will also reduce the burden and time commitment on Sundays.
oooh, security
Good Job! SSL...now if I can just spread it everywhere else.
New site design, same host, upgraded software
After working on the site for a week or three, I've finally gotten all the elements in place to move the site on to the new design. I'm happy for the upgraded options and I'm actually looking forward seeing how this all works out.
I've had to make a couple of CSS updates to making things work and I still think the thing I had to do to get the RSS link icons work on the news site were kind of ridiculous.
I struggled a bit on the new interface, and there are some limitations on some of the things that I find a bit frustrating (what if I want to have an h4 tag?). Overall it's been a generally positive experience, and I'll probably go into it more when I get to that point.
Thanks to Keith (CSS, design suggestions, and logo design) and Chris (design suggestions) for there help in getting this up and running.
Anyways, welcome to the updated site.
So I guess facebook is soon to give up on replicating my data from here to inside my facebook. I don't know if I care or not, but I guess that would be another ding to the duplication of content. I'm still thinking on ways to serve up the data, but I guess it will work out.
Abandonment of duplication (at least by one method)
Since I have to take the time to adjust and replicate the content for LiveJournal for ever, and it's usage is going down, so the point no longer seems relevant. The only interaction I get there seems like it's spam. Since nobody has seemed to notice that I've stopped dual posting there since I stopped on 10/1/2011. So I'm stopping.
The feed into facebook will continue.
New Site design, new host...
While the host that I had previously had was a bit sluggish (espicially at high use periods) but it left me with some stuff to play with, but that's really not the point of this site. It's for me to put and share stuff with friends and family...why not make it easier?
Like my previous site, Keith was a helping factor in the desing and getting stuff all nice and designed. While ocassionally we don't see eye to eye, generally I like his web design sense.
I've always been curious as to how SquareSpace has worked, so I decided to give it a try. My contract ended with my old provider ended a little over a month ago, so I renewed it for a month or so, and started playing around. I have been looking at CMSs for many reasons (through vmware at home to try out Drupal and others) and it sure is a box, a fairly flexable one, and it has a decent UI for those who are not the greatest at doing it to put it all together.
I'm pretty thrilled with the whole experience so far, but the real test comes when I start to see real statistics. and real load times off of it.
So we'll see. Anyways, turnsout.com new and shiney. Let me know what you think.
a couple of updates
This morning I removed the wedding (almost 910 days since the wedding) and webcam tabs to the website. Since the webcam has spent the last couple of years pointed at the wall, I figure it is kind of pointless to continue to have it update to the website...plus, unplugging it saves a few cents a year in energy costs.
I also updated the google analytics call as well...
Upgraded to Movable Type 4.0
So I upgraded to MT4 tonight...it went pretty smoothly, after I got the javascript things to load correctly...
Anyways...fairly simple Looks better over the old user interface.
