Wedding photographer and errends

So last night we signed up to get wedding photography, signed the contract, made the down payment, all that good stuff. Even with the expanded hours it wasn't tooo bad. And the important thing, we own all the negatives/image originals. Check out Custom Productions.

Afterwards we headed to Chef's Kitchen and had dinner. I don't remember what the special was, but I had it, and it was pretty good. It was chicken and some itallian meat wrapped together w/ rice in a garlic cream sauce. Very good. Shannon had the Chicken Alfredo sandwich again...she was happy :)

So then we headed to Target to get some things, including a sweater for Shannon, in case it's cold this weekend at the wedding.

Then we headed to my 24 hour Windsor Heights Hy-vee and got some grocerys. Not a full trip, cause we are going away for the weekend, but to refill some defitiencies in the house. I did get a new Ben and Jerry's flavor of ice cream, In a Crunch, which I had passed up a few times (cause Shannon doesn't like nuts). But I got it this time!

So it was a busy evening, we got home, and by the time everything was put away it was 9:30.

It's gonna be hard

IT's gonna be hard to go to bed, when I've got a sleeping kitty on my leg...Gracie seems so comfortable.

I've spent a while tonight working on our wedding site. It took me a little longer then expected, cause it's just been a while since I've had to do any design stuff. I think all I have left is to get some final details from Shannon, and it'll be ready to go.

Ushers!

So last night I asked Brandon, Josh and Ben to be ushers at my wedding, they all said yes :)

Couple of things

So we went and looked at a place last night, and it looks like we're gonna go with that for the reception. Just gotta put a deposit down. But it's fairly reasonably priced and in a beautiful location.

However, when we were visiting the place, we took a walk around the park and...well...next to the beach we saw two people that really really looked like they were having sex out in public there. At the very best they were making out...but...it was...well...interesting to say the least.

I also learned something about Mozilla's Thunderbird. I was looking at why it was taking so long to run my backup process (from laptop to networked attached storage at home). I saw that my inbox and junk and trash and etc were all really big files. So apprently when you delete email it doesn't actually delete. you actually have to compact the folder to get rid of old email. So I guess that's good to know.

Lucky for me, I don't trust people

So I get home from work today and see two missed calls. One of them says "Royal Presti" so I'm a bit curious as to who that is, considering my name is on the do not call list.

So they called back this evening, and it turns out to be Royal Prestige, which is a company that sells things through local sellers. Since a friend of mine does this for Pure Romance, I think this is a fine way to sell things. So they put forth the offer of a Trip, a free engagement photo session (at a local photographer whose name I recognized), and gift certificates for their own products.

So I'm naturally skeptical, but since Shannon put me on the phone, and when it comes down to it I say sure, we'll go.

As soon as I hang up, I pull up my good ole pal Google, and in short order the magic of the internet tells me, beyond my normal skeptical nature, that not only do they prey on engaged (mostly younger) couples, but they aren't really responsive to complaints either. So being that I felt that it seems a bit scammish, we're not going...and we're not calling them back to tell 'em so either.

Also, Shannon got a call from a Mary Kay rep, and even though Mary Kay is a reputable company, the "you win something" is kinda scammish to try to make a new customer.

Oh well...

Stress

So in talking with my boss about the outburst that happened yesterday, I realized that with my general stress level goes with my emotion display. So if I'm at high stress, things like anger and etc show a lot quicker then they normally would.

So a cobination of spending a bunch of money that neither of us have on the wedding, combined with the Benifits coming due (and basically getting beatup all at once about the way some stuff displays even though it's been pretty much done for a month).

A lot of the things they want aren't actually really unreasonable, but between the repitition and the people not understanding what I said and not giving me a chance to explain...

On the other side of life, I feel like I have to be the stable one for Shannon's benifit so when she gets stressed I'm there to support her. I guess I feel like I'm not allowed to freak out...I dunno.

ugh.

It's the triple poop experience

So Sunday morning, Shannon and I pack up a gift and head down to Cedar Rapids to go to her niece's birthday party. we drive and listen to music, we head up 151 rather then I380, cause Shannon's Sister (kim) and Husband (mike) live on the west side of town. So the trip was fairly unventful.

We get there and park, we're a little bit early, cause I was worried about traffic and other nonsense (there was traffic, but not so much that the flow slowed down too much). So we sit around and wait for the rest of guests to Arrive. So eventually friends of Mike, show up and they bring their two spirited little boys.

A little later, Shannon and Kim's parents show up and then a bit after that, Mike's mom and step-dad.

We watched Shaylee open her presents (lots of clothes and princess things) and then we had a Disney Princess Cake with ice cream. It was pretty good cake (a little dry) and the birthday ice cream was interesting (it had like ribbons of cotton candy in it).

After chatting with Shannon's and Mike's folks we headed out and went to the north side of twon, just outside the Cedar Rapids border of town to Nathan and Jenny's house they bought over there.

The lot for the house is huge...I think maybe 2 acres. Nathan has a big honker of a riding mower to mow it. They also have an invisible fence for their dogs set up on a portion of their yard. So after a little clean up of Taylor (part one of the tripple poop experience), Nathan and Jenny took us on a tour. While on the tour of the yard, Taylor stepped in dog poo in the yard, and nobody noticed until we had gotten up from the basement and through the upstairs and back to the main level again, so she had tracked a bit of it through the house (part two of the triple poop experience). So obviously the shoes came off. Nathan then noticed that Taylor's shoes had tracked on his pants so he went to change (part 3).

So that was pretty funny.

Nathan and Jenny are still in the unpacking mode, so there are lots of boxes and etc around the house. But it is a nice big house with a nice big yard. It does have it's problems, but I think that's more due to the fact that it was vacant for a year.

Nathan made us a nice dinner (broiled steak encrusted with bredcrumbs and a sauce (with mustard in it), zucunini, and red onions). We also had a nice wine with the dinner, it was from Slovakia (red).

We talked about lots of things and stuff, from seeing people from high school (one guy came and worked on their fireplace/heater/furnace) to working on the house to moving, to the job, to produce in stores in iowa. It was fun. I really enjoy spending time with them...I didn't really realize how much I missed 'em.

At around 9, we said our good bye's and headed over to My parents and said hi and talked for a bit. We tried some of jed's bread (good, but still a little dense for a whole wheat bread) and some of my mom's homemade grape jam (from vines in their yard).

We headed home from there after stopping at a gas station.

On the way home, we talked about the wedding and the reception. We have gotten asked by a few people (old Geometry teacher from High school, and Mike's Parents) about the wedding and wanting a reception, and given the 60 person max if we have the wedding and reception at the place we are having it, then it kinda causes a problem. Cause once we get past pretty direct family, the 60 people is pretty much met. And just listing close friends and co-workers, we easily got to another 40 or 50 people too (and these are people I would feel kinda guilty if I didn't invite). So we are debating about moving the reception elsewhere. I think we will talk in earnest about this tonight.

*sigh* So much for pulling this off on the cheap.
