Mushroom Hunting

So here's how it went. We walked around Brown Woods (a forest preserve just on the edge of town). Within the first fifteen minutes we found the first mushroom of the day. It was under some fallen bark. According to Jen, it was pretty large (not huge, but large). And she got all excited. So we looked around that area, hoping to find more...and we found places where others had picked before us. So we continued on. Walking, talking and hunting. We continued to walk of the beaten path...crossed a stream, got to the edge of the preserve. Went back across the stream. Occasionally we would hear others, but we never saw them. Our luck didn't continue, because we were out there for about two hours, and that's about all we found. Jen found an old liquor bottle that she's going to clean up.

So we headed back to the Crib and showed off our prize. Jen went to wash it off and as soon as she did, ants came pouring out of the mushroom. Not just one or two, but hundreds. So we sealed up the mushroom in a ziploc bag and that was the end of it.
