Wedding and camping

So I headed down to Cedar Rapids and had a good time there. I got to See Jon (College Roomate) and his Wife Christy (knew in HS, Clif's siter), Clif (HS/College friend), Clif's Fianace Sara, Bret, his bride, Wade, and Richard.

When I went to the church to sit down, Christy introduced me to Wade's wife, and I did a triple take. I was kinda shocked that wade was married and that I wasn't invited to the wedding. To get the story though, it sounded like they go married in a very small private ceremeony. They are planning to have a Receptionish type thing in August. It was a lot of fun. The wedding was nice, the suits the groom and groomsman wore were pretty cool. The reception was in an area, that when I was in high school, was mostly barren (it's where wade's parents used to live) and it's kind of cool that they had expanded out into that area. at the Wedding they had a comic troupe perform for two shows. Now I was under the impression that they were going to tell some incriminating stories about one or many of us...but it didn't happen. They ranged from being fairly funny to so so. The microphone setup probably hurt them. After a while I headed back to my parents, and then changed and headed down to the Campsite.

I arrived there at around 11:30 and got a little conversation before most people went to bed and the rain started. It rained...and rained...and lightninged and thundered. All night long. I remember checking my cellphone to see what time it was about every 45 minutes from 3 to 8:30 when I finally heard people outside.

It turns out that two of the tents (where most of the people were sleeping) were totally water logged. And apprently most of them left. After the people that were planning on leaving for the day left, it was just Me, Dusty, Jen, Chris and Holly. We headed down to Coralville's big mall and just kinda wandered around (not really camping, but apprently they needed a break). We started in this big sports store and I bougt myself a set of nice bocce balls.

We had dipping dots in the mall and they're like little frozen crumbs of ice cream. It was really strange....but good. After we ate lunch we heard on the radio that a storm was coming and there was tornado warnings and etc...so we decided to end the trip early and go home.

We got to the campground and the park ranger warned us that the storm was around 20 minutes away and if we were staying we'd probably want to go to the shealter and if not we'd better hurry. So we start clearing the campsite. And it starts pouring down in the rain. Packing the things away we just got drenched. Taking things stuffing them into cars and trucks and etc and then grabbing more and repeating.

By the time we left the campsite, I was drenched to the bone, as was everyone else. The funny thing was...that about 100 yards or so after leaving the campsite, it was actually sunny out. It was really strange. We got to a gas station near the interstate and changed, packed stuff up and I led the caravan of 3 cars and a truck back home.

Even though it rained all last night and I didn't get a lot of sleep and we got poured on while we were taking down the tent. I still had a decent time. Maybe going of my own accord or because I wanted to makes it better then when I was kidna forced to by scouts or my parents.

one thing though...if I go camping again, I'm definately getting something to put my sleeping bag on, cause sleeping on a bag on the ground is...well..just harsh on the back and sides and etc.
