Visiting home (So Shannon can meet my newest niece and youngest sister)

So like Saturday morning, I was disturbed Sunday by the text messaging on my cellphone, but unlike Saturday, where the page came at 7:AM, the one on Sunday came on 5:30 AM. So I get up and answer it. It was the same one from Saturday...but apprently hadn't been answered by the person I forwarded it to, so I decided to investigate it. After I resolved it (yeah it shouldn't have come to me), I decided that I couldn't fall back asleep, so Civilization 4 got played. I figured I had a good 3 or so hours of play before we needed to leave for Cedar Rapids.

Because my laptop doesn't have enough memory (only 512), Civilization 4 doesn't start or run great. It runs ok, it's a bit slow, but still all right to play on. Starting and stopping is just a pain. It uses so much virtual memory, that I almost actually ran out :) Oh well. I guess that's what I get for trying to play on my laptop that work lets me have.

So after some play, I headed upstairs to shave and shower to get ready to go. I was ready about 15 after 10 and we headed to La Mie to pick up some stuff to take.

It was busy.

Very busy. We ended up getting 8 scones (various types) and 5 chocolate centered croisants.

Then we headed off to Cedar Rapids. The drive went relatively smooth, once we got out of the metro, before, though it seemed as if I got stuck behind every slow driver on the road. Aren't passing lanes, for...oh I don't, passing?

We stopped by Shanon's Sister's and dropped off a computer she had used before (it's old and was taking up space in our basement...espically since I have two computers that are newer that that in the basement going unused). We chated for a while and then headed over to my parents.

So, there was Mom, Dad, Joseph and Isaac (residents of the house), Jed and Stephane, Emily, Jared and Julia, Lovina and Maren and some of Lovina's husband's family (like 4 or 5 people). It was fun. I played with my nieces and nephews, took lots of pictures (will post later), talked with family.

We had a big dinner. I would call it almost a Thanksgiving practice. There was turkey, stuffing, potatoes, bread (some made by Lovina's Mother in law, some mad by Jed), a vegetable mix and a spinich vegtable mix and a salad. So needless to say, there was lots of food.

For dessert was stuff from La Mie that I brought and an apple crisp that Lovina's mother in law made topped with cinnamon ice cream that my dad had just bought. It was all very good, and by the end I was pretty full.

We talked a bit more with the family. I asked Emily about Christmas stockings (one for Shannon for my parents, and maybe perhaps a couple for us at our house). And I think that went well...

Anayways around 6ish we headed back to Des Moines.

The drive home went pretty well, litte more heavy traffic for a Sunday evening then normal, but not to many slow downs.

The rest of the night Shannon and I talked about some things...and after some sillyness headed to bed.
