So I've been planning this for a month or more. The details were kinda not set in my mind until earlier this week.
So I got home at a little after four (a coworker was having a last day of work meet at the bar type thing that I skipped). I took out the recipe book and look over the list of ingrediants and then ran down to dahls to pick up some sour cream and eggs. Of course, since the dahls is so freakin tiny, they don't have the free-range chicken eggs that I like, but I wasn't about to drive to My Windsor Heights Hy-vee to get them.
So I got back and a little ways into it, Shannon gets home. She was supposed to work until 6, but they were very slow today, so she was home early. So she came to see what I was doing, and I shooed her out of the kitchen and she got ready to go out to eat.
So it was devil's food cake. They got done, I put them on the cooling rack in the pan for about 5 minutes or so and then turned them over on the cooling rack and they slid right out of the pan. I put the pans over them so to protect them from possible kitty attack.
And we headed out. So we drove along Hickman, to 86th and turned down 86th. I kept asking her if she knew where we were going, and it wasn't until we turned on West Town Parkway that she guessed that we were going to Mondo's. This is where our first date was (the day was the 6 month anniversery of our first date).
So we ate dinner. She had Chicken Marsala and I had Southwestern Pork Loin. The Pork was pretty good (I've had better) but the side which was uh...something with Jalepenos and some other stuff. Was pretty damn good. I was pretty impressed. The asparagus was cooked exactly the way I've heard it's supposed to...too bad I don't really like asparagus.
So we headed home I frosted the cake, and put the letters on and told her it was time to come in for dessert. So she came in and said, "yes, yes yes!" and lots of hugs and kisses, then she put the letters on the cake.
It was pretty good cake.
I'm Happy :), Shannon's Happy. We're engaged.
So this morning, I get back from my walk, and to my surprise Shannon is up (she has today off) and she said that when she woke up a bit when my alarms went off, her mind started filling with wedding stuff, so she got up too. So...yeah...this is moving right along.
We are talking about Septemeber of 2006.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the cake idea was Courtney's idea, I just liked it :)
