Some bad things

So, I haven't really comment about some bad things that have happened recently.

So, New Orleans has been pretty much moved back a few centurys by hurricane Katrina. Initially I was fairly upset by this, and the more I saw, the more disgusted I became.

First off, I am absolutly apalled by the slow response of our emergency services (namely FEMA Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to move it down from having it's own seat, to being part of Homeland Security. Or maybe it's not such a good idea to have people that just have general management/cronie experience at the head of it.

But as time has passed, the thing that I'm growing more conflicted about, is the looting. I recently saw a video of a wal-mart being looted. But here's the thing that was shocking. There were two or three cops looting along with everyone else. It wasn't food or necessities being looted, but clothing, toys, electronics, shoes and etc. I know these are some of the poorest people in the area, but beyond the necessities of life (water, food, etc), you just cannot justify beyond that. I heard that people were also shooting at rescue copters, and the only thing I can think of that they were doing was giving themselves more time to loot, or rob a bank. I also heard that the hospitals were having their drugs stolen (or at least attepted to be stolen) by looters. This is so damn absurd.

A friend of mine went in for an MRI to see if they had a brain tumor. This I find really scary. She's so young, I don't really know how to react to this. I know that my Grandmother (mom's mom) had one, which basically turned a very smart older woman, to a little girl, in a matter of months. It was also very hard to see my grandfather go through too.

So Bush gets a second chance to name someone to the supreme court. I know you can't every really know how a justice will turn out until they have been on the bench for a little while. I was ok with one, I didn't think that'd be so bad, but getting another judge on the court, I'm not so pleased. Oh well...
