Prairie Meadows and cleaning and etc.

So after Shannon got home from work, we ran a few errends and then headed out to Prairie Meadows.

We met up with Dave, Chris and Holly, Chris's mom, Holly's Sister Sarah.

We ate at Champion's in the horse racetrack/casino. And the food was...well...it wasn't good...it wasn't terrible either...but yeah...

So when it came time for the first race, we placed some bets, and headed down towards the race track.

It was kind of interesting. Lots of people there and lots of bets being placed. There was quite a range of people there, although most of the people there were of betting age (I don't understand why someone would bring their kids there, but that's just me). So slowly I learned about how it works to some extent. We made no scientific approach to our bets, and just based it on the name.

The first race started and ended right in front of us (the later races started further down the track and finished in front of us). And it was kind of exciting. And the finish was pretty cool.

Horses are beautiful animals and these are well cared for.

I saw one of my coworkers from the HR from Iowa Health Des Moines.

Then the waiting started, If you are not really figuring out what you want to bet on, then the wait between the races is quite long.

I asked a few questions about how things worked of the people, who seemed to know what they were doing, around me. And it was interesting.

We watched a few more races and eventually it got cold, so we headed inside.

We played a few games. Apprently Blackjack is Holly's game. So we sat down at a table and played a few hands. I lost a few dollars, Shannon won a few, so as far as it went, for what I lost, she won so we broke even.

We took a break from BlackJack, Played a few slot machines (we both ended up losing, but Shannon was up 2 dollars on a nickel slot), and headed back to the blackjack table to see what the group was up too.

There was an old guy at the table, and I saw him pull out the second 100$ bill of the night and get it changed for 5$ chips...

Eventually we decided to go, and out in front Holly, Chris, Shannon and I decided to go see a movie. We met up over at Chris and Pat's and ended up going to Thank You for Smoking. Which was pretty funny.

So it was pretty late, so after heading back to Chris's to pick up my car, we headed home to sleep.

Sunday....oh Sunday...I mowed, we cleaned, I put new hubcaps on Shannon's car....by the end of the time, we both were pretty tired.
