Painting and work baloney

So Shannon and I started painting. On Saturday, Chris told/showed us how to start and we went from there. Not that it's that hard, mind you, but when you are uncertain of what to do, it's a better thing to just get a few hints. We finally got the ceiling covered in primer/sealer.

While doing this I got called to be on a conference call for a large scale program that I'm not really associated with, except for the secure certificate that's installed on the server. The vendor kept blaming the software upgrade on the certificate...over and over...they'd move away, by my force of will (cause after double checking to make sure that it's installed correctly, I couldn't see why they were having a problem).

We continued to paint the ceiling, getting a nice firm coat on it. the Primer stinks...like nobody's business. Cleaning the primer off the brushes and rollers with paint thinner is awful (the basement still smells like paint thinner).

The application team called again at around 9. Tried the home phone first (niether of us answered cause Shannon was painting, and I was cleaning and my hands were covered in paint). Then my cell rang and I had cleaned off my hands enough to actually answer the phone. They wanted me at a 9:30 meeting, cause the error that they were getting was still related to the certificate.

I decided to drive in for the meeting, got caught by the train, and just barely made it on time. Paint on my hands, spattered paint on my arm and some paint on my feet, going to a meeting. For the next 3 hours or so, we went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and finally someone came up with something. Apparently somewhere in the settings of their software it overrides anything that the database says and forces it to go to the name of the server (which was not the same name as on the certificate).

So 5-6 hours of my day wasted, because they couldn't figure out what was wrong with their software...

I came home, cleaned up the rest of the tools (Shannon was tired so I told her to go to bed and just leave the clean up for me (and she has also gotten her nails done that day)).

I sat back for a while just to wind down from the annoyance that I had.

On Saturday we started to pain the walls. The paint we had was much better smelling then the primer. But...of a frighteningly similar color to the color that the wall already is...it's not exactly the same, but pretty close. Around noon, Chris and holly joined us to help paint our tiny bathroom. After Chris and I got the high places, we let Shannon and Holly get the low places. I must say that Chris's edging work is very good. Certainly better then my occasional ceiling spots and mistakes. After Holly and Shannon got done, they came down and we chatted for a bit, before they took off.

The bathroom looks a lot better. There are some areas that we may need to go over again (I don't know if we just forgot, or that the tape was too far out or something. I know Shannon noticed it too.

Anyways, Thanks Chris and Holly!
