Yay...email...

So I'm back in internet heaven. Man I was just jonesing for my email. I couldn't be leave it. I had around 170 emails....only about 10 of which were not spam. That's just retarded. I'm thinking about moving up to the next level of account cause there I'll be able to get PHP and it has a spam filter technology of some sort.

A lot has happened over the last few days.

So Saturday, Brandon and I took all my computers and other assorted electronics and packed them into our two cars.

At my house (feels wierd), we were met by Val and Jen and we all unloaded it into the dining room.

Sunday, I basically did the last of the packing and did my normal sunday ritual (sopranos, etc). and took apart the TV at like 1 in the morning.

So I didn't get a lot of sleep sunday night (from staying up to late and being too excited). I got up before my alarm went off and started the last load of laundry (sheets, clothes from the last few days, etc). Deflated my air mattress (it's what I've been sleeping on for a while now) and put my tv and etc into my car.

The Moving guys showed up around 8:30 I told 'em the stuff that I wanted moved...showed them my coding on the boxes and then they went to work. It was Tow Men and a Truck and they had an extra guy (I didn't get charged for) and that was pretty cool. They unloaded my house pretty quick and got it all on the truck.

So right now (and after that) my apartment only has cleaning supplies and my vaccuum in it.

They followed me over to my house and I showed them where the labeling got too. They made pretty quick work of it, although getting my couch into the living room was apprently a big pain in the butt, because it took them a long long time to get it in there.

After they left I started unpacking. Put my desk together, setup my bedroom, unpacked any of the clothes that I had left. At around 5:PM I decided to take a shower and head down to Raccoon River to go play pool with whoever showed up (Jerry, Renee, Alex, whom I've never met before, and the Normals). It was a good time and certainly a nice break from the grind of unpacking.

I got home around 10:PM and was pretty tired (due to lack of sleep and a long day) so I decided to hit the sack. Now I was a little bit nervous, cause in new places or strange places I have trouble sleeping. Amazingly, it was not trouble at all! Now maybe it's because it was my own bed and I was tired, but the first night I slept in my apartment I remember just having a real bear of a time getting to sleep.

So I woke up this morning and headed out to Menards. I got a light bulb for the lamp above my bed (the wrong kind it turns out, it says t-3 halogen lamp, I got the only t-3 that I could find and it does not fit). I also got two rugs to put under my couch and under my entertainment center (so they don't scracth the wood). I was able to menuver the couch on the rug, but the rug for the entertainment center has a rubber bottom making it a bit hard to kick under it. So I'll need some help with that. I put my TV and cable box into the entertainment center (to prepare for the cable guy coming). and went down stairs and setup the other two computers. So now...other then having to hookup the second set of speakers (I don't know if I'm even gonna do that), all my computers are setup and ready to rock.

So I headed off to Best Buy to get a phone (so each floor can have it's own phone), and I got a nice panasonic phone. And a few CDs (Fallout Boy, Weezer Deluxe edition, and YellowCard)and a new mouse (the MX510, so the MX500 I have is being used for the other three machines).

A comment on the phones. So I was looking for a phone that didn't have an answering machine and didn't have two lines. A lot of the phones they had there were combo machines/phones or were just ugly, or made by a brand that I've had bad experiences with or made by a brand that I don't trust. How hard is it to get a phone where you have caller ID and maybe a little more of the cool gadgets? Without adding the stuff that makes it cost more.

So if this panasonic phone works out...I may just buy more of them.

So after getting back from best buy I kinda just waited for the 1-4 window of when the cable guy was gonna show up and hook up my broadband and my cable. two and three rolled around. At around 3:15 I got a call (I didn't know they were gonna call) that he was gonna show up in the next half hour. So he went up and had to adjust some things at the junction box, which apprently is on the telephone line near the house and then came in and re-ran a few wires inside the house.

and then I was able to check my email! Yay!

I started the email down load going (I had 170 or so messages) and then accompanied him upstairs while he hooked up the Cable box and tv. Paid for the first month and sent him on his way.

And then I'm back down stairs and sorted through my email. Spam, spam spam spam...the junk mail filter cost most of it...but there was still quite a few that it missed. At the end of it...out of the 170 or so messages about 10 were actually to me or from lists that I signed up for. How's that for a load of crap?

Anyways...I'm happy to be up and functioning again. It feels good to be connected to the world again.
