Reagan and D Day

So Former president Reagan died yesterday. I remember being in middle school and being so hopeful for the future and seeing all this big events happening (berlin wall, fall of the soviet union, etc). He was always such a good speaker...in contrast to the current president. Now I don't know how I feel about a lot of the changes he made for the US. i remember my views back then and how much I agreed with the conservitive line that was back then.

Man have my opinions changed over the years. I could've been called a Reaganite back in the day and now my beliefs are balance between Libertarian ideals and Socially progressive....which does seem kinda silly because of the diffrence between the two.

It's also is the memorial for D-Day. I wonder if it was as clear then as it seems to be now? We have all these doubts about what we are doing over seas, but was it the same back then? Was the whole threat then clear? I watched the first part of Saving Private Ryan and I forgot how frightening that whole thing is. How do people get in put in such a position that we have to loose thousands and thousands of lives just to get them back to a relative state of normalcy?

Sometimes you just wonder how things are viewed back then.
